Install and Set Up the Shopify App

Install Fleetbase from the Shopify App Store, connect your Fleetbase organization, map pickup locations and finish setup.

Install and Set Up the Shopify App

Setup takes about ten minutes. You need:

  • A Fleetbase account. Start a free trial if you do not have one.
  • An API key from Developers › API keys in the Fleetbase console. See API keys.
  • The address of each Shopify location that delivers.

Install

Install Fleetbase from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions. The app opens on Set up Fleetbase. Each step unlocks the next.

1. Connect your Fleetbase account

  1. Under Where is your Fleetbase?, choose:
    • Fleetbase Cloud (console.fleetbase.io), or
    • My own Fleetbase server (self-hosted), then enter the Fleetbase API URL. It must be reachable from the internet over HTTPS. Self-hosted needs the Self-hosted plan.
  2. Paste your API key and click Connect.

A live key (flb_live_…) creates real orders in your organization, and your drivers may be notified. To try the app first, connect with a test key (flb_test_…): orders go to your Fleetbase sandbox. You can change the key later in Settings › Fleetbase connection.

2. Choose where drivers pick up orders

Each Shopify location that delivers needs a Fleetbase pickup place. Orders are picked up at the place mapped to the location that fulfils them.

  • Create from address creates a Fleetbase place from the location's address.
  • Pick existing links a place you already have in Fleetbase.

Mapping a location turns deliveries on for it. You can turn deliveries off per location later in Settings › Pickup locations.

3. Delivery prices at checkout

Choose how customers are charged for delivery:

  • Live prices from Fleetbase by road distance. Needs carrier-calculated shipping on your Shopify plan.
  • Shopify local delivery zones. Works on every plan. The app suggests zones from your Fleetbase rates and you enter them in Shopify.

Click Save delivery pricing. Orders, tracking and fleet tools work the same either way. Delivery pricing explains both options.

4. Send delivery updates back to Shopify

With a Fleetbase webhook, Shopify updates within seconds of a status change. Without one, the app checks Fleetbase every 5 minutes.

  • Set up automatically registers the webhook through the Fleetbase API. This needs a recent Fleetbase version.
  • Otherwise, copy the URL shown and add it in the Fleetbase console under Developers › Webhooks › Add endpoint, with the order events selected. See Webhooks.

Keep the URL private.

5. Drivers and finish

Drivers use the free Navigator app. Add them on the app's Drivers page or in Fleet-Ops. Click Finish setup to open the dashboard.

After setup

  1. Add the order block. Open any order in Shopify admin and add the Fleetbase delivery block from the order page's apps area. Shopify does not add app blocks to the order page on its own; once added, it shows on every order.
  2. Set up local delivery in Shopify if you chose delivery zones: Settings › Shipping and delivery › Local delivery. See Delivery pricing.
  3. Place a test order. See Test the integration.
