Delivery Pricing in Shopify
Charge live Fleetbase prices at checkout or use Shopify local delivery zones, manage service rates from Shopify admin, and understand currency handling.
Delivery Pricing in Shopify
The app offers two ways to charge for delivery. Switch between them in Settings › Delivery prices at checkout.
| Live prices from Fleetbase | Shopify local delivery zones | |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify plan | Carrier-calculated shipping: Advanced, Plus, Grow on yearly billing, or the add-on | Every plan |
| Price | Your Fleetbase service rate, by road distance from the pickup location | Fixed price per zone, entered in Shopify |
| Shown at checkout as | A shipping rate named after your service rate | Shopify local delivery |
Delivery rates
The app's Delivery rates page manages your Fleet-Ops service rates without leaving Shopify.
- Add rate: name shown at checkout, service type, and how the price is calculated:
- Base fee + price per distance
- Fixed price by distance tier
- Fixed price by distance tier (flat)
- Optional service area and zone (draw areas in the Fleetbase console), delivery time text, estimated days, cash on delivery fee and peak hours fee.
- Test a delivery address returns the prices that address would get. Testing creates a quote record in Fleetbase, as checkout does.
Create rates in your store currency. Checkout ignores a rate in any other currency.
Live prices at checkout
When a customer enters an address, Shopify asks the app for rates and the app asks Fleetbase for a quote from the pickup location.
- Time limit. Shopify allows 2.5 seconds. If Fleetbase does not answer in time, the app either hides Fleetbase delivery (other shipping methods still show) or shows a flat estimated rate, depending on If Fleetbase does not answer in time.
- Caching. Quotes are remembered for 10 minutes by default (Remember quotes for), so repeat addresses are instant. Changing a rate clears the cache.
- Filters. Only offer these service types and Show only the cheapest rate limit what customers see.
- Delivery dates. With Show estimated delivery dates on, the rate's estimated days are shown.
- Several locations. Checkout prices from the mapped location matching the checkout's origin. With one mapped location, that location is always used.
Orders paid with a Fleetbase rate are sent to Fleetbase automatically, even though Shopify lists them as shipping.
Shopify local delivery zones
Shopify has no API for local delivery zones, so the app suggests them and you enter them yourself.
- On Delivery rates, review Suggested Shopify delivery zones: nested radius zones with prices from each service area's rate.
- In Shopify, go to Settings › Shipping and delivery › Local delivery, open your location and turn on local delivery.
- Add the zones by distance with the suggested prices. Shopify charges the smallest matching zone.
Orders created in Shopify admin
Shopify does not add a delivery fee to orders you create in the admin. In the order's payment section, click Add shipping or delivery and choose a rate or enter a fee. Without a delivery method the order is not sent automatically; use Send to Fleetbase instead.
Currency
Fleetbase stores prices in each currency's smallest unit, using its own decimal places. Some currencies have no decimals in Fleetbase but two in Shopify, including the Mongolian tugrik (MNT), Hungarian forint (HUF), Icelandic króna (ISK) and Qatari riyal (QAR). The app converts between the two, so enter prices as you would in the Fleetbase console: a 3,000 MNT base fee is 3000.
