Customer Segments
Group customers with rules — order history, recency, spend and push reachability — to target campaigns and promotion announcements.
Customer Segments
A segment is a saved group of customers defined by rules. Segments are used as the audience of campaigns and promotion announcements. They are evaluated when a campaign is sent, so they always reflect your customers at that moment.
Manage segments in Storefront → Promotions → Segments.

Creating a segment
Open the Segments tab and click New segment.
Give it a Name and optional Description.
Fill in the rules you need. As you type, the form shows how many customers currently match.
Click Save.

Rules
Customers must match every rule you fill in; empty rules are ignored. Order rules count the customer's storefront orders placed with your store (or, for a network segment, through your network), ignoring canceled orders.
| Rule | Matches customers who… |
|---|---|
| At least this many orders | have placed at least N orders |
| At most this many orders | have placed at most N orders — use 0 for customers who never ordered |
| Ordered in the last (days) | ordered at least once in the last N days |
| Has not ordered in the last (days) | ordered before, but not in the last N days |
| Joined in the last (days) | became customers in the last N days |
| Spent at least | have paid at least this much across your storefronts |
| Can receive push notifications | have at least one registered device |
Through the API a segment can also be limited to an explicit list of customers.
Examples
| Segment | Rules |
|---|---|
| Win back lapsed customers | Has not ordered in the last 30 days |
| First order nudge | At most 0 orders, Joined in the last 14 days |
| Regulars | At least 5 orders, Ordered in the last 30 days |
| Big spenders | Spent at least $500 |
| Push-reachable regulars | At least 3 orders, Can receive push notifications |
Pair segments with promotions: a First order only promotion announced to the First order nudge segment, or a promo code announced to Win back lapsed customers.
